Morning Ride, Hot for September

It was time for another lonely trip back home, with an empty back seat. It was a hot morning for September, hopefully there will plenty more, followed by sunny afternoons.

Even with this recent activity of riding with a passenger, I would still say that I have ridden 99.9 percent of the time without one, so it is hard to understand why I get such an alone feeling.

I would be distracted from my emotions when I passed a house with an older couple out in their front yard. They gave me a hardy wave as I passed. I continued meandering my way out to US-36, then headed east into Avon, and then into Indianapolis.

Rockville Road US-36 runs right into US-40, then leads me east all the way through the Circle City. This is also Washington Street, and leads me right to my house.

A Short Hibernation

January 8, 2006: Well, the hibernation for my Black 2003 Honda VTX 1800c was only a week long. Sometimes, I wish I could get a week's rest. Like last week, I knew the evening before that I would most likely be riding on Sunday to breakfast. I had hoped to send Reed and e-mail to see if he was going to be riding to Shapiro's, and if so, if he would pass by the house and we could ride together. The day before, Saturday, was Nina's Birthday, and between that, and working on the house, I wasn't able to remember to send that e-mail when I was sitting at a computer. I did spend sometime at the keyboard, updating the National Cruiser Club, USA Website with their merchandise offerings. Texas Day 8: They Can Hear Clearly Now, The Static Has Gone

April 8, 2006 So I wake for the first time in my life in the State of Mississippi. My trunk is now firmly bolted on to my luggage rack, thanks to a trip to a well stocked K-Mart, and the use of Jim's tools. The container is not in the room with me, as I usually am able to detach it quickly from the bike. The mounting bracket that was on the bike is now in the trash can. The tiny can is also filled with beer cans and the refuse form the meal we ate in our rooms last night. Our first stop was the Visitor's Center in Natchez. Shooter Jim knew it was off track from the Trace Parkway, but he wanted to see if Ducnan would notice. They had both ridden the trace before. The trace was a return path of about 450 miles up the Mississippi River. Apparently, men would float goods down the river, then sell them in the south, and sell the boat for the lumber for housing. Second Ride of 2005

February 5, 2005: From the last day that you go for a ride, when you live in a area with a riding season, you start thinking about the first ride of the next season, and as the calendar winds down to end of another year, you wonder when that next ride might be. So with a forecast of sunny skies and temperatures near 60 Degrees, it doesn't long for spring fever to get to me. On the invitation of Ron, extended to all of Reed's Eaters, I embarked on the second ride of the year. Reed's Eaters is a underground name for the group of riders who gather every Sunday, usually at Shapiro's in downtown Indianapolis. Mr. Reed is in charge of the e-mail list, so he gets the name, but not the naming rights. I was the first to arrive at Dreyer Honda, a Motorcycle Shop located on the West Side of Indianapolis.
