Show Me Your Colors, Hendricks County!

This will a blog post with quite a difference, you can ride along with me!! I decided to go out and find some of the best scenic roads in Hendricks County, and capture it using my GoPro Camera.

My favorite riding partner, Kasey, and I started out on the south edge of Danville, Indiana, on Cartersburg Road. This is a long time favorite road of mine. It has always had smooth pavement and good mix of curves.

We veered off of Cartersburg at County Road 350 South, and headed east to another favorite road, Vestal Road. We picked the road just north of the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center. Vestal ends at County Road 200, so we take CR 525 East to continue north.

County Road 525 East will take you all the way to US 36, but I like to take a right at CR 100 South and head east over to CR 625 East. It is worth it just to drive under the bridge, and along the creek, great views.

We took US 36 West back towards Danville, but turned off to the right onto old US 36. Shortly after, we took another right on to County Road 500 East to head north. A third right turn was made at CR 75 North. This leads back to a Avon Elementary School, and after a couple of right angle turns, becomes CR 600 East. This is a bit of a hidden gem for me in Hendricks County. The road winds through woods, along a creek, through neighborhoods, and then back into the wilderness. It all comes to an end at CR 350 North.

That does it for the videos, I did record more, I just haven't uploaded it all to my YouTube Channel. Here is the rest of our trip. We took County Roard 350 heading west to CR 500, and took right to head north. Where it nearly comes to an end, we take a right on CR 550, which swings back to the north through the western edge of Brownsburg and passes West Chase Golf Club. The rounds to the left, and becomes CR 750 North. This takes us West and back to US 136.

US 136 is highway, mostly two lanes in each directions, and is certainly a tolerable highway to ride along. We took it west all the way to Jamestown. At the stop in town, we took SR 234 until it meets State Road 75. We head south on this state highway.

State Road 75 is another Hoosier Highway that I don't mind taking a cruise on. It is out in the country, and many times through the year is pretty scenic road. We head south to North Salem. It was about time for something to eat, but we were too early for Perillo's, I guess they don't open until four in the afternoon. We missed that, they have great pizza and Italian Food.

So we got back on State Road 75, and headed south out of town. Always look for North Salem's Old Fashioned Days, which I think is in September, it is a great time. SR 75 has a couple of jogs, and the second one we keep straight on Hughes Road heading west. At the end of the road is McCloud Nature Park, definitely worth a visit! Beware, the roads in the park are all gravel, and not the kind that is very friendly to two wheel travel. Maybe down the road they will pave a section so that those of us on motorcycles will feel more inclined to visit.

We have reached the edge of Hendricks, and took Putnam County Road south to US 36. Here we veered from the original plan. I had planned to head down and take some footage around Heritage Lake. Instead, we were hungry, but not read to head home. We took US 36 West to SR 231, and made our way south to Greencastle to grab a bite to eat.

An early dinner was had at Putnam Inn, a place that is easy to get your belly full. We made our way back through town taking 240 to State High 75, and heading north. We rejoined up with the plan near Coatsville. County Roads 450 South and 475 West took us passed Amo, Indiana. Then a pair of County Road 200's, first south heading west, and west heading north. County Road 50 South takes us back into Danville through the majority of the schools and back home.
